HomeLife Initiatives - Our Approach

Scope:

The scope of HomeLife Initiatives includes working with parents and children to assess needs and establish a personalized plan to address those needs holistically. HomeLife Initiatives offers but is not limited to the following:

On an Individual/Family Basis:

Addressing felt needs in the home (including relationships, routines, nutrition, schooling, etc.)
Consulting and coordinating with school personnel
Community resourcing and networking
Personal support and “coaching”
Spiritual direction and encouragement

In a Small Group Setting:

Short Term Focus Groups

Purpose: to have a place to learn new skills and be
encouraged by others on the same journey

Examples: learning potty training techniques, healthy eating habits, establishing routines at home, home schooling children with learning challenges
Group size: four to six people

Duration: five weekly sessions of 1 1/2 hours

Connect Groups

Purpose: to have a place to explore aspects of Christian spirituality and be encouraged by others on the same journey

Examples: spiritual direction, book discussions, prayer

Group size: four to six people

Duration: five weekly sessions of 1 1/2 hour

Mission/Purpose Statement:

HomeLife Initiatives exists to glorify God and encourage adults and children in their walk of faith by providing heart-oriented, practical strategies for trouble spots of life in the home and at school. These strategies are arrived at as a family team. They center around learning new ways of relating with one another in hopes that each member of the family will thrive in their stage of life.

Foundational Perspective:

Every man, woman, and child is unique. Everyone has a giftedness about them that makes them special and valuable. We all have something life-giving to offer our families and communities. HomeLife Initiatives is highly personalized, focusing on our shared human experience as well as on each family’s unique style and composition. At HomeLife Initiatives we celebrate each individual, each family, and the exciting possibilities of living life fully in relationship with one another.

HomeLife Initiatives rests on the Christian truths found in the Bible, where relationship with God, self, and others are central. In relationships we have the potential to experience the deepest hurt and the most fulfilling sense of belonging in our homes and communities.

Many of the difficulties in life boil down to the need to learn new ways of relating to God and to those around us. We desire to relate well with our children, spouse, and others but often feel stuck in patterns of interacting that don’t bring about the closeness and peace we long for. HomeLife Initiatives offers individualized personal consulting and ongoing support for those who want to find the “more” of life through learning new ways of relating.

It consists of listening, discerning, and offering hope and help to those in need. It is educational in nature; oriented toward “consulting” and “spiritual accompaniment” rather than “counseling” and may steer clients toward specialized resources such as counselors, therapists, physicians, and pastors.
